Wine for women who do extraordinary things, every day.

Festival Fun in Marlborough

This past weekend, thousands of wine lovers descended on the Brancott Estate in Marlborough to attend the Marlborough Wine and Food Festival. This is New Zealand’s original and longest running wine festival. It was an opportunity to sample a unique selection of world-class wines and delicious local cuisine all in the heart of Marlborough.

It was a fantastic day, with clear blue skies, sunshine and lots of fun. The Sisters Wine team were there in full force, and it was extra special for us to get together in one place. Under the stunning blue Marlborough skies, we poured over 1,000 glasses of wine to guests who visited our stand. Sauvignon Blanc was as you would expect pretty popular as was our Pinot Gris and for devotees of Pinot Noir, they certainly were smiling when they got the chance to taste our Marlborough drop.

However, without a doubt, rosé continued to have its moment in the spotlight. Our approachable, juicy Pinot Rosé was a fan favourite across the board. When you get someone who takes the time to pop back to the stand at the end of the day claiming that “hands down this was the rosé of the day!” Well, that is always pretty special. And that is exactly what one gorgeous lady took the time to do, so of course we had to snap her pic to capture the moment.

One of the things that make wine festivals special is a chance to meet fans in person, to talk with them about our wines, our brand and share our story. We got great feedback from everyone who stopped by our stand, some who had heard of us through Instagram or Facebook. For others, it was a chance to taste and enjoy our wines for the first time. Based on their feedback, we think they’ll be certainly doing more of it in the future.

Wine festivals are fun. They are a chance to get to know the people behind your favourite wine, to try new wines and even varietals. They are an excellent opportunity to get together with friends, chill out, and enjoy some music in the beautiful outdoors.

The Sisters is all about acknowledging and celebrating today’s multi-tasking women, who do extraordinary things, every day. For that very reason, it was endearing to see so many fabulous women sharing this sentiment, wearing our tattoos with pride and a smile. It was also great to see so many groups of girlfriends who use this festival as a chance to get together, to spend time with each other and take a moment to celebrate their friendships. That’s exactly what the group of Pink Ladies does each year, and they certainly know how to do it in style.

Everyone has a story and what we loved so much was that our brand seemed to encourage women to share so many great ones. One that stood out was a group of women who, through various roads that life had sent them on didn’t find each other as sisters until later in life. Then just this year, they discovered there was another sister. They gathered with extended family to celebrate at the festival. Whether it was through family or life, one thing that was constant was the depth of friendship that all these women shared and the support and love that they have for each other. It was fantastic. Of course, there was also lots and lots of fun!

We had a dress up photo booth on the stand, and it certainly saw lots of action throughout the day. Festival goers got into the spirit of dressing up and posing for pictures. Some people even left and returned with more friends again and again.  We had so much fun, and there was laughter surrounding us all day, so thanks to everyone who joined in.

It certainly will be hard to choose the winners from those who upload their photos to Facebook or Instagram or Twitter adding #thesisterswine or #asistersmoment. We’ve really enjoyed seeing them come through on visitor posts on our Facebook page or through the tagboard here.  We’ll announce the winners of the Sisters Wine Gift Packs Tuesday 16th February on Facebook and Instagram. Entries will close at midnight tonight Monday 15th February, so there is still time to upload them.

Here is a little video we have put together to capture it all. We hope you enjoy watching it and we look forward to seeing you all again next year!
