Here at The Sisters Wine, it’s incredibly important to us that we live our truth. Part of that is ensuring that we support causes that make a difference to our community. Here’s a cause that we stand for and stand with. We encourage you to do the same.
You might be familiar with Dress for Success as an organisation that provides disadvantaged women returning to the workforce with clothing to attend job interviews, but the reality is that they provide so much more. Charles Hix, author, once said. “Looking good isn’t self-importance; it’s self-respect.” Many of the women that come to Dress for Success have lost their self-esteem. Listen to their stories and you will understand that what they gain with help from Dress for Success is not just a suit of clothes, but a new perspective on themselves and the value they have in their communities and families. More importantly, they learn to value themselves.
Dress for Success is a global not-for-profit organisation. Since starting operations in 1997, Dress for Success has expanded to more than 140 cities in 19 countries and has helped more than 1 million women work towards self-sufficiency.
Their Mission is to empower women to achieve economic independence by providing a network of support, professional attire and development tools to help women thrive in work and in life.
Their Vision is a world where women do not live in poverty, are treated with dignity and respect, and are strengthening their families and shaping their communities.
Dress for Success came to New Zealand in 1999, when the Auckland affiliate was founded. It was one of the first two ‘international’ affiliates established, thus beginning an expansion beyond the US borders (the other was Vancouver). To date, they have helped tens of thousands of women in this country. There are seven affiliates in New Zealand, in Auckland, Christchurch, Hamilton, New Plymouth, Northland (Whangarei), Rotorua, and Wellington.
We are so proud to supply The Sisters wines for their fundraising events and to raise awareness of the amazing work that they do so that they can continue to empower thousands of women every year.
